“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”
Romans 12:12
In the past several months, my family has gone through some of the darkest times we have ever known. Trials and sufferings have been our portion, but joy and redemption has been our song.
Many times death and sickness can bring fear, pain and questions. But if we allow it, Gods design is to use suffering to usher us into sweet communion and intimacy with a Father who cares more deeply for us , than we can ever fully comprehend. Suffering changes you. For me, it awakened my soul once again to the deep resounding love of a Saviour who’s song of restoration triumphs loudly over the song of the enemy. His song is beautiful and I long to sing it.
Over the past year, Matt and I have served in the night watches in the prayer room. During this time, the Lord has taken us on a journey that would mark our hearts for life and give us a blessing that would endure . For this season we are served the Lord full time with worship and prayer in the middle of the night.
Each night we would start with a 2 hour corporate prayer meeting at midnight and focus in on specific things that the Lord speaks to us regarding where He is desiring partnership with us in the place of prayer. During this time we have experienced some of the most profound and powerful times of prayer of our lives. After this time of cooperate prayer we then continue with personal focused prayer and worship throughout the entire night.
Just coming out of such an intense season of trial, serving the Lord in prayer and worship in the middle of the night has been like refreshing water to our souls. There is a sweet intimate voice that the Holy Spirit whispers throughout the prayer room in the nightwatches. All the world is asleep, yet His presence continues to echo the truth that He is worthy of day and night adoration.
This season of worshiping Him in the nightwatches has deeply impacted us. In the quiet hours of the night, He reminded us once again, that though trials and tribulations are many in this life, His Love surpasses them all . He has awakened our hearts again to the reality that we are living for Eternity and He is our prize.
He is teaching us
Not run from trials, but embrace them.
Not hide from the rain, but to dance in it.
Not to fear the darkness , but to worship in the midst of it.

Though darkness surrounds us, some of the most beautiful songs arise out of the night. For He is the God who redeems .He is the God who restores.
He is our song in the night.
